Mr. Iuray gets an X-Ray

Mohammd B Iuray, a miner, has his foot set up for an x-ray by auxillary x-ray technician Osman F. Kamara

The X-Ray Department is part of the diagnostic section in St John of God Hospital in Sierra Leone.

The equipment was donated by HospitaalBroeders in the Netherlands and St. John of God Brothers in Ireland.

Thomas Cokea, St John of God Hospital x-ray technician examines a patients results outside. The sun is used to dry the x-rays.

Mohammd Iuray was getting a sore foot x-ray’d to establish if there was a fracture and allowed us to take photographs. He, like many patients, works at the nearby iron ore mine.

Having felt a sore foot become gradually worse he came into the hospital to investigate before it turned into a serious injury, an attitude to medicine that we seek to encourage.
